Question
I have a mixture of wood finishes in my living/dining/office. I would like to stain them to be more similar. I have light & dark oak, light & dark cherry, and walnut. What do you suggest?

Answer
Hi LeAnn
Unfortunately what you wish to achieve is impossible unless you want to have all this furniture professionally sprayed with colored lacquer.
They would have to apply so much color that it would end up looking like paint.
And what a shame to do that.
I guess I'm telling you LeAnn that its basically impossible to make walnut, cherry and oak all look the same and retain the wood look.
Sorry not better news
Kind Regards
Eileen

Expertise

Hi..I can answer most questions about the repairing, stripping and refinishing of all your old furniture and wood items(the things we call antiques)I can give advice about what to buy/avoid at auctions/flea markets. I do not give appraisals on antiques.

Experience

I have been refinishing antiques for the past 30yrs. While I have taken several courses over the years,I have found that "hands on" learning is the best teacher. Perhaps I can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made while learning.
