Cabinets, Furniture, Woodworks/damaged veneer

Question
We are considering buying a used dining table.  It has a blond wood veneer and there is at least one hole in the veneer.  Id say about 3/4" long and 1/8" wide.  Can this be repaired?

Answer
Hi Pat
Nice to hear from you.
Yes this can be fixed but this type of repair always shows unless done by a pro.
But barring that, and as this hole is pretty small what about one of those wax filler sticks.
They come in lots of colors at the hardware store.
Actually look like wax crayons.
Follow directions.
This will not harm a repair by a pro down the road.
Good Luck

Eileen

Expertise

Hi..I can answer most questions about the repairing, stripping and refinishing of all your old furniture and wood items(the things we call antiques)I can give advice about what to buy/avoid at auctions/flea markets. I do not give appraisals on antiques.

Experience

I have been refinishing antiques for the past 30yrs. While I have taken several courses over the years,I have found that "hands on" learning is the best teacher. Perhaps I can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made while learning.
