Question
I bought an old rocker at a "antique" auction,in 1976. My ? is, at that time they said it was not quite an antique yet, it had a few more years to go. How can I research to find out info on our beloved rocker? It is large, & solid, made of hard wood. Both the seat and arms are carved to fit comfortably. It might of been org. painted black. Can you help? Thx Tiger

Answer
Hi Tiger
Nice to hear from you.
You have no doubt heard some say that to be called "antique" an item must be 100 years old.
So thats possibly what they meant in 1976 when you purchased your rocker....but that was 32 years ago so now it could be 100 years old.

Expertise

Hi..I can answer most questions about the repairing, stripping and refinishing of all your old furniture and wood items(the things we call antiques)I can give advice about what to buy/avoid at auctions/flea markets. I do not give appraisals on antiques.

Experience

I have been refinishing antiques for the past 30yrs. While I have taken several courses over the years,I have found that "hands on" learning is the best teacher. Perhaps I can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made while learning.
