Cabinets, Furniture, Woodworks/dresser stain

Question
During our recent ice storm I used an old fashion oil lamp and set it on a new Vaughan-Bassett Cottage Collection white dresser. Either the heat or a small amount of oil got on the base of the lamp and left a faint yellowish stain. How can I remove this so I can get out of the dog house?

Answer
Sorry to hear your in the dog house, I will get you out.   :-)

Ok, I want you to go to a hardware store and get a "triple zero" steel wool. This is a fine steel wool for removing build ups or stains and will not hurt the finish. Also, you have a white dresser, but if it has natural wood grains, then its good, you need to find a furniture oil that is safe to use with it. The steel wool and the furniture oil should take out the stain. IF this does not work, I'm afraid you will have to look into refinishing or a touch up for the white. Best of luck.
