Question
We have a grandfather clock that is a light oak color. We have redecorated and now the other furniture is either black or a deep brown finish. Can I just stain the clock or will it need to be sanded? It will be difficult to sand as it has many different markings....thanks

Answer
With re-staining and refinishing furniture its a lot like cars. The best paint job is going to happen with the car being stripped and sanded bare. I'm not sure what type of "sealer" your clock has on it, but thats what doesn't allow for a clean refinish or new stain. I would recommend sanding it, but if not, maybe someone could look at it, to tell you if they think it could be spray stained without sanding.

Good Luck!
