Cabinets, Furniture, Woodworks/Resizing table holes

Question
I am refinishing a wood kitchen table, but the holes that hold the top to the legs are stripped. I thought I could use wood dowels, glued into the holes and then just screw into the dowels. Is this a good plan?

Answer
Hi Warren,   yes that would be the correct thing to do. Use a good wood glue like Titebond 2.  Allow the dowels and glue to completely dry before drilling.  Be sure to predrill a hole down into the dowl, slightly smaller than the screw to lessen the chance of splitting the dowel.  Thanks for your question and good luck on your project.
