Question
The oak has yellowed and I would like to strip it and stain it a different wood color - blond, walnut or some medium brown.  Is this possible?

Thank you.

Virginia

Answer
Hi Virginia
Nice to hear from you.
Yes its possible to do what you want in most cases.
But first you must do a little test to see if you can get the current finish off.
If this is an older unit it should be OK.
But a test is a must.
Test in a small hidden area using paint stripper.
If the finish comes off, get back to me and I will guide you through the job.
Kind Regards
Eileen

Expertise

Hi..I can answer most questions about the repairing, stripping and refinishing of all your old furniture and wood items(the things we call antiques)I can give advice about what to buy/avoid at auctions/flea markets. I do not give appraisals on antiques.

Experience

I have been refinishing antiques for the past 30yrs. While I have taken several courses over the years,I have found that "hands on" learning is the best teacher. Perhaps I can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made while learning.
