Question
I have an end table that has been painted white. I want to take the white paint off and stain the table dark. How do I take the paint off? Also, the end table has two engraved flowers on it that I want to stain with a light color. Is it possible to stain a piece of furniture two colors?

Answer
Hi Jessica
Nice to hear from you.
You need paint stripper to remove the paint from your table.
Yes its possible to stain two different colors provided the wood will accept stain.
Sounds to me like this will be very nice.
You can apply the stain to the flowers with a small brush.
Do the table first then the flowers I think.
If you need full stripping info get back to me.

Eileen

Expertise

Hi..I can answer most questions about the repairing, stripping and refinishing of all your old furniture and wood items(the things we call antiques)I can give advice about what to buy/avoid at auctions/flea markets. I do not give appraisals on antiques.

Experience

I have been refinishing antiques for the past 30yrs. While I have taken several courses over the years,I have found that "hands on" learning is the best teacher. Perhaps I can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made while learning.
