Question
Hi is it possible to stain oak stair to match maple kitchen cabinets. I realize with
the different wood, you cannot get an exact match, but is it possible to stain the
stairs so that the color to similar is relatively similar?

Answer
Oak is one of the easiest woods to stain and match tones and highlights of other woods.  Your best bet would be to take a cabinet door and a piece of oak to a paint store such as Sherwin Williams. Tell them you want them to make a stain for the oak to match the cabinet door.  That's that.  Results are generally great.
