Question
Hi Eileen,
Some workmen refinishing our staircase today spattered polyurethane on a (beloved) wood credenza. Can you please tell me how to remove it without damaging the existing finish on the piece?
Thanks for your time,
DeeDee Mayor

Answer
Hi Dee Dee
Nice to hear from you.
Gosh I'm sorry this has happened.
All I can suggest is wait till the spatters are cured (I'm sure they where dry when you noticed them), but let them really harden up and cure now...a few days.
Then put an ice cube in a rag and hold it on a splatter a few seconds. Then the spatters should pop off using only your finger nail...no tools LOL.
Then a polish and it should be fine.
Good Luck
Kind Regards
Eileen

Expertise

Hi..I can answer most questions about the repairing, stripping and refinishing of all your old furniture and wood items(the things we call antiques)I can give advice about what to buy/avoid at auctions/flea markets. I do not give appraisals on antiques.

Experience

I have been refinishing antiques for the past 30yrs. While I have taken several courses over the years,I have found that "hands on" learning is the best teacher. Perhaps I can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made while learning.
