Question Hello,
My husband and I cannot decide whether to order a wall unit (204" length x 22" depth x 91"or 84" height) in Alder or Maple. The room will be a family room. Storage for toys, arts and crafts, books. Also TV with xbox (rock bank), DVD, etc. Basically a kids room. Our kids are 5 and 7 years old. We have 3 cats no dog yet.
We plan to keep the wall unit for our lifetime.
The maple design has cabinets that are very thin which I personally thick will not wear very well. I asked for 3/4 inch cabinet doors which increased our quote.
I like the stain colors for the alder but concerned about alder being a medium density wood.
What wood do you recommend?
THanks
Answer Mary > If your question is Maple vs Alder...I would choose Maple. I have no idea of the source for these cabinets...they do not sound like custom made units. There are so many variables here which I could ask questions of and without detailed casework specifications involving joinery technique and material specs it is impossible for me to make an assessment.
