Question
I have painted our kitchen table and put polyurethane on it.  It now has 3 coats and every time it streaks as it dries.   What am I doing wrong?

Answer
Hi Carol
Nice to hear from you.
Slow down on the poly Carol.
You only need one coat over paint.
A few things come to mind regarding the streaking.
First the poly is too thick, and second your brush is incorrect and third the poly is drying too fast and not getting a chance to flow..
Is this fresh poly?
Are you working in a really dry warm room?
Did you get the proper brush to apply poly?
The correct brush will cost around $12.00 but its worth every cent.
Get back to me.
Kind Regards
Eileen

Expertise

Hi..I can answer most questions about the repairing, stripping and refinishing of all your old furniture and wood items(the things we call antiques)I can give advice about what to buy/avoid at auctions/flea markets. I do not give appraisals on antiques.

Experience

I have been refinishing antiques for the past 30yrs. While I have taken several courses over the years,I have found that "hands on" learning is the best teacher. Perhaps I can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made while learning.
