Cabinets, Furniture, Woodworks/Residue on Kitchen Table

Question
My Kitchen table is a distressed table from Broyhill. I've had it for about 6 years and it is developing a sticky residue along the edges of the tables. I'd like to remove this without removing the stain on the table. Is this doable and if so what do I need to get.
Thank you

Answer
Hi Debbie
Nice to hear from you.
Yes this is very doable.
Get a small can of mineral spirits (varsol in Canada), and dip a rag into it to wipe down the edges. Top can be wiped too.
Some soap and water to get the varsol off after you get the stickiness off, and a nice polish.
Won't hurt the stain.
Great question

Eileen

Expertise

Hi..I can answer most questions about the repairing, stripping and refinishing of all your old furniture and wood items(the things we call antiques)I can give advice about what to buy/avoid at auctions/flea markets. I do not give appraisals on antiques.

Experience

I have been refinishing antiques for the past 30yrs. While I have taken several courses over the years,I have found that "hands on" learning is the best teacher. Perhaps I can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made while learning.
