Question
I just rescued two head boards and footboards from the trash. I would like to paint themand use them for my boys. The problem is the sideboards were discarded years ago. Can I buy sideboards somewhere or have them made? Or should I try attaching them to a standard metal fram?

Answer
Hi Kathleen
Nice to hear from you.
This is a great project.
Personally I would attach them to the metal bed frames.
Only because this will be more secure for two boys LOL.
You cannot buy sideboards but you could have them made I suppose but it could cost a bit as they will have to get the proper hardware to attach to the head and foot boards.
No the best way is attach to metal frames.
Very easy.
Should only require a drill and some screws and washers.
Good luck and great question.
Regards
Eileen

Expertise

Hi..I can answer most questions about the repairing, stripping and refinishing of all your old furniture and wood items(the things we call antiques)I can give advice about what to buy/avoid at auctions/flea markets. I do not give appraisals on antiques.

Experience

I have been refinishing antiques for the past 30yrs. While I have taken several courses over the years,I have found that "hands on" learning is the best teacher. Perhaps I can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made while learning.
