Cabinets, Furniture, Woodworks/wooden wheels

Question
My mother had beautiful maple furniture and I have received 2 pieces I love. She gave me a rolling sort of table which had a leaf that came out and made it a banquet sort of table. My brother had restained this table and lost the wheels that were sort of clover leaf design with a rubber outside like a tire. The wheels he put back on look horrible and I am trying to find out my options to replace them back to original or a nicer quality wheel. Thank you for your time reading this, I don't know what else to do here.

Answer
Hi Mary
Nice to hear from you.
Not sure if its actually wheels you need or casters.
First look through this site at all the different kinds of wheels.
Looks like mostly casters to me but I think thats what you need.
And if it is, consider wooden ones instead of rubber.
If its actually wheels (on an axle), then I think I would have something made in wood, or go to a store that sells wood supplies.
Often craft stores sell various size wooden wheels.
But don't give up.
What you want is out there.
Kind regards
Eileen

Expertise

Hi..I can answer most questions about the repairing, stripping and refinishing of all your old furniture and wood items(the things we call antiques)I can give advice about what to buy/avoid at auctions/flea markets. I do not give appraisals on antiques.

Experience

I have been refinishing antiques for the past 30yrs. While I have taken several courses over the years,I have found that "hands on" learning is the best teacher. Perhaps I can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made while learning.
