Subject: Restoring Kitchen Table
Question We were given antique table but needs a lot of work. The top has a lot of scratches & several white water stains from glasses. So I tried to wipe them off with denatured alcohol and now I have a white film on top..Yes I made it worse. Should I just strip the whole top and sand or can I apply a restore-a-finish. How do I fix it? There are other things wrong with the table but I'll start out with this first. Thanks for you input.
Answer Hi Heather
Nice to hear from you.
At this point there is absolutely nothing wrong with trying the restore a finish.
Nothing at all to lose.
Yes you may end up having to strip the surface but a table top is easy.
I am also including a great site that discusses fixing finishes.
Give this a look
