Question
hello eileen, can i clean my cherry kitchen cabinets with mineral spirits? i was told that they would look great. i'm a little apprehensive though. what do you think? thanks douglas

Answer
Hi Douglas
Nice to hear from you.
Just for general regular cleaning the mineral spirits are not needed.
But if you have a heavy buildup of grease and grime it may be the only solution.
For medium to light cleaning, one of those orange degreaser products are fine.
I use a product called Citrus Solve.
In fact I am so impressed with this product I use no other cleaner in my home.
Unlike the Mineral spirits that smell bad, this smells very nice.
But the best thing is it does the job.
Hope this helps
Regards
Eileen

Expertise

Hi..I can answer most questions about the repairing, stripping and refinishing of all your old furniture and wood items(the things we call antiques)I can give advice about what to buy/avoid at auctions/flea markets. I do not give appraisals on antiques.

Experience

I have been refinishing antiques for the past 30yrs. While I have taken several courses over the years,I have found that "hands on" learning is the best teacher. Perhaps I can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made while learning.
