Question
QUESTION: I have a black wooden table kitchen and on New Years I placed hot plates on my
table and notice some white spots on the table what paint can I buy to get my
table a good finish?

ANSWER: Hi Cary, it's likely that your table is not paint, but lacquer. Any finish is going to be susceptible to heat damage...even paint. Did the finish actually come off?...or are you seeing a whitish haze where it was damaged?....this might just be " Blush" or a heat ring, and if it's lacquer, it might be able to be removed. QUESTION: KITCHEN TABLE
Question   HI GREG,

IN REGARDS TO YOUR QUESTION MY TABLE HAS WHITISH HAZE ON IT. ANY SUGGESTIONS I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE. THANKS FOR YOUR QUICK RESPONSE.

Answer
It does sound like lacquer, in which case you can buy some "Blush eraser" and lightly but evenly spray the area with it in hopes of releasing the blushed area. The trick is to spray enough to evenly wet the area with a thin film, but not so much as to pool on the surface. You may have to apply it a few times in succession, but it will likely work for you. If you over apply it or apply too heavily, you risk damaging the finish more, so care must be taken......you can apply it too thinly as well.It is a blend of aromatic solvents that will temporarily re amalgamate the finish film and then dry off. It's smelly, toxic, explosive stuff, as most lacquer solvents and carriers, so use accordingly. If it doesn't work, then you'll have to move to a more aggressive restoration, but it's a relatively small investment to make. Hope that helps-post back if need be- Greg
