Cabinets, Furniture, Woodworks/Staining pickled maple kitchen cabinets

Question
My solid maple kitchen cabinets are currently pickled.  They have a peach tinge to them.  I'd like to remove the pickling and stain them a with either a more natural look or a cherry stain.
What's the most efficient way to do this and get the best professional looking results?

Answer
Hi Sherine, your cabinets most likely have a finish on them, not just a stain, but a stain, sealer, and multiple clear coats...and therefore you'd have to strip them to affect any change. This is not a job to take lightly, kitchen cabinet finishing is really best left to the pro's, with the proper knowledge, materials, and spray equipment. That's really the only sure way to get professional results. To apply a furniture grade finish, that will withstand the harsh environment of a kitchen, and have a deep, even, rich looking finish, is not an easy task, and certainly not something I would recommend to a novice. Especially if there are raised panel doors. Stripping a kitchen full of cabinets, in place, and trying to then finish them in place is something that I wouldn't suggest to anyone. You'd be better of to prep and properly paint them, or have them replaced or refaced. Post back if need be, probably not what you wanted to hear, regards- Greg
