Question
Hi- saw the GREAT tip about hot vinegar removing most glues.  Do you have any tips for the removal of 20 year old discolored "water-soluble contact cement"?

Answer
Hi Margot
Nice to hear from you.
This is the meanest stuff to remove but they actually make something called "contact cement remover".
Its at the hardware store.
Not saying it will remove 20 year old contact cement but its worth a try.
And glue that old will have..I'll call it petrified LOL, for want of a better word and will chip or scrape off too.
Good Luck and thanks for a great question
Kind Regards
Eileen

Expertise

Hi..I can answer most questions about the repairing, stripping and refinishing of all your old furniture and wood items(the things we call antiques)I can give advice about what to buy/avoid at auctions/flea markets. I do not give appraisals on antiques.

Experience

I have been refinishing antiques for the past 30yrs. While I have taken several courses over the years,I have found that "hands on" learning is the best teacher. Perhaps I can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made while learning.
