Question
I would like to know what kind of finnish to apply to paduak , I plan on making some wine holders for some friends & bought some paduak, a low luster finish [satin] would be nice, I think. how should I begin sanding ect.
Hi Mark, that's a beautiful wood, and it works and sands nicely. I would use a sharp cabinet scraper to clean up any tooling marks, and then sand down to 150-180, and then use an oil finish like Watco, WaterLox, or similar. A minimum of 3 coats, waiting at least 16-24 hours between coats.This will yield a nice satin finish that's easy to maintain.....hope that helps- post back if need be- Greg
