Question
Eileen, I have a Henredon coffee table. It has some distressing and is 34 years old. It looks great except for "heel" marks where people put their barefeet on the table. How do I remove these and other filmy type marks. I used wood cleaner, but it did not remove these marks.
thanks!

Answer
Hi Kris
Nice to hear from you.
It sounds to me like this top needs a good cleaning if heels are marking it.
Dip a rag in mineral spirits and give the top a good rub.
You will be amazed at the grime this takes off.
Keep a clean rag to dry as you go.
When your rags no longer get dirty, the top is ready for a polish.
Hope this helps
Kind Regards
Eileen

Expertise

Hi..I can answer most questions about the repairing, stripping and refinishing of all your old furniture and wood items(the things we call antiques)I can give advice about what to buy/avoid at auctions/flea markets. I do not give appraisals on antiques.

Experience

I have been refinishing antiques for the past 30yrs. While I have taken several courses over the years,I have found that "hands on" learning is the best teacher. Perhaps I can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made while learning.
