Question
The dining room chairs I have are in great shape except for the seating cushions. The cushions are supported by four elastic strips, about 2" wide, two in each direction. The elasticity is gone and the chairs sag. What would you recommend to repair the seats? Should I replace the strips with plywood? Should I try to find elastic strips?

Answer
Hi Jeff,  your first suggestion is the best one,  replace the rubber webbing with ply-wood.  1/4 inch thick plywood will be enough and although not as comfortable as rubber webbing will last indefinitely.

If you replace the existing rubber webbing with new rubber webbing you will have the same problem again in a few years.

I hope this answers your question.
