Answer
Hi Chase,

It's hard to know what you're capable of building, without knowing what sort of tools you own. Also, you said you don't know where to start, but do you have any woodworking skills? Are you familiar with basic joints, and how furniture is assembled?

I recommend starting with the book entitled - Beds by Jeff Miller. Here's a link to read more about it: http://store.taunton.com/onlinestore/item/beds-jeff-miller-070379.html

While it's not a book written for absolute beginners, it gives you a lot of information about bed building, as well as many bed plans that are adaptbale for the size that you want. It's a good place to start.

Write back with more info and I'll try to help. What style bed are you interested in building? List your tools and skills. Where will you build this bed, as it will take up a fair amount of room to build it.
