Question
Hello,
I have 5 built in book cases in my office, eash is roughly 4'x4. I am looking for a place that can purchase wooden role-tops for use as a book case cover. I am trying to avoid the typical wooden shutters as doors. Can you point me to a mfg. Thanks
Jim..

Answer
Hey Jim, there is no place where you would be able to buy a ready made roll top set up for your book cases. This type of thing would have to be custom made for the application buy a cabinet maker. But the real problem is that 4' is really too wide for the typical slat type roll top as well, and 4' long of roll top would make a huge roll of wood to have to conceal when raised, requiring the top shelf in it's entirety to conceal.A track system also has to be installed in the sides for the roll top to run in. There are many types of doors you could use that would look better than shutters, depending on the budget. Certainly for what it would cost for 5 custom roll tops......and a good cabinet maker or even finish carpenter could help you with design and manufacture of some doors.Regards- Greg
