Cabinets, Furniture, Woodworks - weatherproofing indoor furniture

Question
Is there any way to weather/waterproof a light cherry table to use outdoors?  We are moving and have a beautiful dining room tabel and chairs which won't work anywhere but on our new patio.  Any chance we can do somethign to protect it?  I understand the wood will become weathered to some degree and I don't mind if the color changes, I just want to avoid splintering or other damage.  It is a nice piece from Pompanousic Mills.  Thanks for any help you can provide!

Answer
Hi Beth, it's doubtful that you could, as interior furniture is built with interior glues, often veneered and glued up from multiple pieces of wood, etc. Any exposure to the elements will take a toll rather quickly, no matter what finish you use.....it's just the nature of the materials vs. the elements.......
