Question
I am repairing a garage door and plan of facing some old and weakened joints of the wood door with plywood sheathing. What is the best type of plywood to use on an exterior application that will then be painted?
Answer
What type of repairs will you be making? Marine plywood is really the best choice, but you'll need to go to a specialty wood supplier to find it...standard exterior plywood is not rated for constant exposure to the elements, and even painted won't weather well...can you use solid wood? Or make the repairs on the inside of the door?
