About Eileen Cronk
Expertise
Hi..I can answer most questions about the repairing, stripping and refinishing of all your old furniture and wood items(the things we call antiques)I can give advice about what to buy/avoid at auctions/flea markets. I do not give appraisals on antiques.

Experience
I have been refinishing antiques for the past 30yrs. While I have taken several courses over the years,I have found that "hands on" learning is the best teacher. Perhaps I can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made while learning.

Cabinets, Furniture, Woodworks - Old Dresser

Expert: Eileen Cronk - 11/3/2009

Question
I have an old off white Formica dresser which i would like to paint into a dark oak color what would you recommend me to do? What kind of paint would i need?

Answer
Hi Irene.
Nice to hear from you.
First give the dresser a light sanding with 120 grit sandpaper.
Then I would use waterbased acrylic paint.
Make sure you use a good paint brush for a perfect paint job. Ask when you buy your paint for the proper brush.
This will be a great project.
Kind Regards
Eileen
