Question I filled a large hole in a paint grade project with epoxy/wood dust mix (west system
105-209 ) and it needs a little more filling. Can I use a wood filler such as
Famowood that uses acetone as a solvent?
Thom
Answer Hey Thom, I would be concerned about any other filler actually sticking to the West System.....you can use a polyester filler though, like Minwax's two part "High Performance" wood filler, which will stick to just about anything...it's really "Bondo" for wood....and set's up rock hard when cured, just don't rush the paint job after filling and shaping....give it a day or two to really cure, or it can show up through the paint....if you're not familiar with this stuff, as it hardens, it goes through a stage where it's the consistency of hard cheese, (think aged Cheddar), and that's when you need to move quickly to shape it, cut it flush with a sharp chisel, etc., before it moves to the next phase where it get's hard as plastic and is difficult to work with. Hope that helps- post back if need be- Greg
