Question
I have a desk and the vaneer has came loose from the top at the corner.  Is there any way I can lift up corner and reglue with some kind of glue and weigh it down

Answer
Hi Vern
Nice to hear from you.
Your right on with your idea.
We actually don't lift the loose veneer to much as it could break but it must be glued back down right away before it buckles (if it buckles its a buggar to repair).
Use a long flat blade of some kind to get the glue all the way under the damage.
A thin butcher knife is fine. Apply a good bit of carpenters glue along the knife blade and insert it under the veneer. Run the blade around and back and forth to make sure all the area is covered in glue.
Then apply weights or better still clamps. If you use clamps, apply a clamping board over the top. Pressure over the entire glued area is vital.
Great question.

Expertise

Hi..I can answer most questions about the repairing, stripping and refinishing of all your old furniture and wood items(the things we call antiques)I can give advice about what to buy/avoid at auctions/flea markets. I do not give appraisals on antiques.

Experience

I have been refinishing antiques for the past 30yrs. While I have taken several courses over the years,I have found that "hands on" learning is the best teacher. Perhaps I can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made while learning.
