Question

Hello Mr. Scholl, I wanted to ask how I could achieve a rustic/eclectic image like the one shown in the attached picture. I have several wood pieces that I can experiment and practice on but need guidance starting at step one! I am artistic to a degree, but I have no idea what processes I'd have to go through to achieve the end result. I am open to all suggestions times ten.  :)  Thanks for your time & expertise.

Answer
Hi Meg, the picture is rather small and hard to see, but it looks like several techniques going on ..painting, stenciling, staining and glazing, maybe even airbrushing too. All of these have a learning curve, I would start with some books on painting furniture, but a piece like this is done by an Artisan who has developed their techniques to fashion something that will stand out and be recognized as unique. You hit the nail on the head when you said "experiment and practice", and that's the best advice I can offer to you....start with researching the techniques, online and at the Library....hope that helps a little- Greg
