Question
we installed cherry cupboard doors made of 3in pieces glued together last fall.we heat with wood, several of them are bowing . it seems only to be the smaller doors, the longer ones seem to be ok right now is there anything i can do?

Hi Peggy, unfortunately there isn't much you can do. The only way to minimize warpage is in the construction. Being sure to alternate grain when gluing up solid panels, and using properly seasoned wood will help, but this type of door construction isn't recommended. A frame and panel construction moves better and is more stable. Wood heating can dry the air so much, it can cause damage to many things, even with humidification. Buy a few Hygrometers, they will tell you the relative humidity in a given room,aren't expensive, and you might be surprised how dry it is. Then you'll have a basis to help you add moisture back to your living environment. Once warpage like this has happened though, it can't easily be reversed(if at all).Regards- Greg
