Question
I left the stain on a chair to long before rubbing it off. My first coat of polyurethane seems to be sticky. Will it eventually dry or have I ruined the job? thanks so much.

Answer
Hi Candy
Nice to hear from you.
Before considering stripping your work off (which is what you may have to do), give the chair more time to dry.
You will not be able to remove partly dried poly by any other method but stripping with an mc stripper so wait a bit longer.
Was the poly fresh?
Old poly becomes very thick and will not dry properly.
If it was fresh, wait.

Eileen

Expertise

Hi..I can answer most questions about the repairing, stripping and refinishing of all your old furniture and wood items(the things we call antiques)I can give advice about what to buy/avoid at auctions/flea markets. I do not give appraisals on antiques.

Experience

I have been refinishing antiques for the past 30yrs. While I have taken several courses over the years,I have found that "hands on" learning is the best teacher. Perhaps I can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made while learning.
