Question
Ifollowed the directions given by Michael Fitzpatrick on removing superglue from furniture (upto sanding with 600 wet/dry sand paper). There are small areas that have been sanded down to the wood (through the finish and stain).  I would like to know what I should do next before I polish and wax.

Answer
Hi Mary Jo, you've sanded through the finish which is what you DON'T want to do....so now you have a bigger problem. You can't typically spot repair an area that's been sanded through the finish and the stain...you'll probably have to refinish the whole surface now. As I don't know the original problem, I'm at a bit of a loss here, except to say that I wouldn't have suggested sanding Super glue off a finish. It's harder than the finish and it's really impossible to try to sand something like this off without damaging the surrounding finish, as you've found out. Typically, I would usually start with a razor sharp chisel and carefully slice the super glue off the finish at a very low angle.....it will usually chip right off when coaxed carefully with a sharp, wide chisel blade.....Unfortunately, I would say you need to refinish the piece now.....post back if need be- Greg
