Question
Hi,
I have a Thomasville coffee table that I acquired from a family member that I thought was solid pine.  I was refinishing it with an orbital sander (80 grit as it's badly gouged) and noticed large odd-shaped blotches all around the sanded area.  Does that mean it was veneer?  If that's the case, what can I do to repair the now destroyed table?

Hi Doug, yes that's probably what it means, but I'd be surprised if it was pine...the only way to repair it would be to reveneer. We never refinish with a sander for reasons like that....always strip something chemically that you want to refinish.......you don't lose ANY wood..
