Question
It looks like 2 broken dowels fell to the floor and the seat feels like it will fall thru if you sit in it.  The left side of the rocker feels like it is coming apart.  I bought this at LEVITZ and the furniture company who made it is called Douglas Furniture based in LA which also has gone out of business.  HELP!  Is there a way I can fix it myself or who can fix it?  Thanking you in advance...SANDRA

Answer
Hi Sandra, I would flip it over and see if you can get in underneath, many times there's just a black muslin bottom, that can easily be replaced. This will allow you to see exactly what's going on....sounds like a seat member or other support has let go. The real problem with an upholstered piece, is that if the frames loose, to the point of pieces snapping, the whole frame is probably in need of repair, and there's no way to do it properly without removing some or all of the upholstery. An Upholsterer or Furniture restorer could also evaluate it with you, and fix it for you if you decide to go that route...Hope that helps- regards- Greg
