Cabinets, Furniture, Woodworks/tieing couch springs

Questioni have zig zag springs in my couch. I just replaced the clips that hold them and am trying to tie the spring as the wire that holds them is broken. I bought a good italian hemp. How tight do i tie these? Do I knot the twine at every spring? I'm a small person and so not very strong. Should i pull the twine with pliers between springs to tighten the knot and tension on the twine? I appreciate any help you can give.
Much thanks, Belinda Garza
AnswerHello Belinda,
Well I have good news for you, the hard part - which is replacing the clips, you have already done.
The purpose of the twine is to prevent the filling materials from working it's way in the cavity between the springs, and to tie the springs together so that they work as one unit. You bought the perfect twine as well.
It is a good idea to put a knot at every point where the twine crosses over a spring or you can just loop it without a knot. You should just pull the twine enough to pull the slack out of it and no more, pulling with pliers would tighten it too much which isn't good.
I hope this information helps.
