how do you glue leather onto wood

Hi Amanda, it really depends on what the application is....if you're gluing down a tooled leather insert, like on a desk or similar, you would use a premixed wallpaper paste. This allows for repositioning during thew glue up, but more importantly, allows easy removal when the time comes to replace the leather. It's important to make work reversible when it comes to fine furniture, so the furniture can be repaired and restored over it's lifetime. Using a  brush, apply the paste in an even moderately thick layer, working quickly, and then lay in the leather and smooth from the center out with a damp cloth, making sure to wipe all the squeeze out and excess glue away while wet.
