Question
I am getting new kitchen cabinets installed. I have chosen birch wood with nutmeg stain. It is open concept kitchen. I have a dining table that is light birch stain. Should I get light stain for cabinets as well?

Answer
Trying to match is tough and it may come out to be a near miss. I think a contrast may be better here.

I grew up with cherry cabinets in the kitchen and a maple kitchen table. I now have a dark finish(wenge) cabinets with a teak table. The teak table has some dark grains that sort of go well with the dark cabinets but does not match the cabinets exactly.
