Cabinets, Furniture, Woodworks/super glue vapors

Question
Hi Greg, I used super glue to join a magnets to a plastic disks for a school project. I put them on a paper on the table. The glue didn't get on the table, but "ghost" circles remain on the formica table. How can I remove the circles.

Answer
Hi Michele, yes it sounds like the solvent vapors may have left the marks...you could try some "Goo Gone", a commercially available universal remover, or some Acetone on a rag, but be SURE to just dampen the rag not pour or spill it on the table. Fold the rag into a small pad about 3"x3" of several layers, then pour a small amount (about the size of a quarter) onto the center of the pad, tap the pad on something like another small piece of rag to disperse the Acetone a bit and with a rapid sweeping motion, quickly wipe once over the super glue spot and see if that starts to remove the spot. If it does than do another swipe and it should be gone...you want to be quick with your movements and not let the rag sit in contact with the Formica. Another option is to try to polish the marks off, using the same type of 3"x3" pad, with a polishing compound like the 3M "One step Cleaner wax" #39006, which is available at a good Auto parts store. The latter of the steps is the least risky, but may require you to polish the whole table top to make the sheen even.....hope that helps a little- post back if need be- regards- Greg
