Question
We just built a new room onto our house & the interior walls & ceiling are made of red cedar & white pine from the farm. I was thinking of using pure tung oil on them & no polys or varnish. I would like to keep it as natural as possible but use something to bring out the grain. What would you recommend?

Hi Dale, pure Tung oil can be quite dark, and will darken the wood more over time. There are other penetrating oil finish products that will be a bit lighter and still offer the ease of application and other properties you're looking for. Watco "Natural" Danish oil finish might be a good choice, Thompsons water Seal is also quite light....experiment on some scrap to find the right path....post back if need be- Greg
