Cabinets, Furniture, Woodworks/Fixing office chair

Question
I have a typical office chair that has an adjustable seat for up/down. It also tilts and has a tilt lock bar. The chair makes some awful popping noises when I sit in it. It doesn't squeak, it just pops loudly whenever my weight shifts in it. Do you have any suggestions on what is causing this, and how I might fix it?

Answer
I had the same problem with my chair at home. The first thing you want to check is the tension on any parts that are connected with bolts or screws. If everything seems good there, I would recommend taking the chair apart and oiling the springs and the connecting joints that typically get squeaky or noisy after some use. After using WD 40 on my springs I got the sounds to go away. Hope this helps.
