AboutEileen Cronk Expertise Hi..I can answer most questions about the repairing, stripping and refinishing of all your old furniture and wood items(the things we call antiques)I can give advice about what to buy/avoid at auctions/flea markets. I do not give appraisals on antiques.
Experience I have been refinishing antiques for the past 30yrs. While I have taken several courses over the years,I have found that "hands on" learning is the best teacher. Perhaps I can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made while learning.
Question i want to repaint my cupboards the frame is melamine and the doors are i think oak i went to get paint and the gave me corrostop ultra no.635-110 on the can it doesn't say for wood .and it also says that you don't need to use a primer my friend told me to use kilk or bins paint now i'm so confussed please help
Answer Hi Sharon
Nice to hear from you.
It can be confusing.
First of all, if the product you purchased doesn't say its for wood then don't use it. Take it back.
Kills or bin primers are used in places where there are stains. They prevent the stain from bleeding through your paint.
But there is no harm in using them as a primer for your cupboards.
If you have not purchased the primer already, just get a latex primer. Its far cheaper than the above mentioned.
Hope this helps
Kind Regards
Eileen
