Question
I am demolishing an old cottage that has 6,8,12" pine t&G on the interior walls.  I've salvaged the wood, and want to incorporate into the building of my new house.  I've got several hundred board-feet and want to resurface the old t&g (all of it had polyurethane on one side), so I'd like to start with a fresh board.  How do I resurface?  A planer? A drum sander; by hand(I hope not).  Got any ideas? I can purchase or rent a machine to use - just don't know what is the best way to do it.

Hey Steve, trying to plane or sand off the old varnish will gum up any machine rather quickly, but, depending on the paneling, you might be able to plane the backside with a thickness planer and duplicate whatever edge style there is on the front, (bevel, etc)....leaving you with a usable, consistent product.....
