Question
child was helping with housework and  used Windex on the top of antique  stereo now has white film  on top can this be fixed without refinishing?

Answer
Hi Laura
Nice to hear from you.
I have had Windex do the same thing.
I never looked at a Windex label to see whats in it but some finishes don't like it.
The Windex has caused what is called "blush".
I put a bit of tung oil on a rag and rubbed the mark right out.
It may work for you.
If tung oil is not handy, try a bit of your vegetable oil.
Here is a site that you should read before attempting any fix.

Expertise

Hi..I can answer most questions about the repairing, stripping and refinishing of all your old furniture and wood items(the things we call antiques)I can give advice about what to buy/avoid at auctions/flea markets. I do not give appraisals on antiques.

Experience

I have been refinishing antiques for the past 30yrs. While I have taken several courses over the years,I have found that "hands on" learning is the best teacher. Perhaps I can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made while learning.
