Question
I used the Huntington's Original finish wood revitalizer kit. My cabinets cleaned up nicely. The stain matched well. The trouble began with the Seal-N-Shine clear coat sealer. I followed all directions. I have a cloudy streaky mess. How can I get this stuff off. I am afraid I will have to hire a professional to fix the mess. If I hadn't done the last step my cabinets would look great. Thanks, Debbie in Virginia

Answer
Hi Debbie
Nice to hear from you.
Sorry this has happened.
While I am not familiar with the product you used, it appears the final step you applied has clouded. This can happen at times.
The only way to remove it as you want is to strip it off with paint stripper but that will remove everything down to bare wood.
Will you try this? Get a small can of low sheen tung oil (circa 1850 is the brand I use.)
Do this test. Dip a rag in the oil and rub over a small area of the cupboard.
I'll bet the cloud disappears.
Good Luck
Eileen

Expertise

Hi..I can answer most questions about the repairing, stripping and refinishing of all your old furniture and wood items(the things we call antiques)I can give advice about what to buy/avoid at auctions/flea markets. I do not give appraisals on antiques.

Experience

I have been refinishing antiques for the past 30yrs. While I have taken several courses over the years,I have found that "hands on" learning is the best teacher. Perhaps I can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made while learning.
