Question
I have i nice 30 yr old Henredon tea-table.  it has a good finish but has swirl marks and micro scratches on the burl veneer top like you might see on a car finish that has been through multiple automatic car washes in its lifetime.  Can i remove the scratches the same way as a car with a rubbing compound?

Answer
Yes, you can, if the finish is thick enough and in otherwise good shape. I use 3M's Finesse It II, to polish out lacquer like this, which is a fine, liquid compound for polishing out scratches, swirl marks, etc. It comes in a squeeze bottle, and can be used by hand or machine, but I typically hand polish with it, so as to not risk burning through the lacquer. You can find it a good Auto parts stores, or online. Hope that helps- regards- Greg
