Question
QUESTION:  i would like to paint TEAK WOOD,after preparing the surface suitably ,i am applying a coat of primer ,sanding it and then applying paint.Tough i am getting a good finish ,the problem i am facing is the paint is easily getting peeled off to the extent that i can see the wood.
What i have figured out is that teak wood being very oily is not holding the primer. So i request u to give me a solution.

ANSWER: Please tell me if this is new Teak, and what type of primer are you using? Is this interior Teak? Thanks-

QUESTION: yeah its new teak wood and i am using oil based primer .i am making some educational aids using teak wood

Answer
You will not get the paint to stick to new Teak....it's a bad choice if you need to paint it. You will be MUCH netter off picking another species of wood. Only weathered Teak will accept a good primer, new Teak is just too oily, and it's oily throughout the piece, not just on the surface.
