Question
I have an antique vanity on 4 legs with metal wheels. It has a lot of wear. Should I refinish or will that deminish the value of the piece???
Hi Jill, that's always a loaded question, and it's usually dependent on the condition, and the rarity/value of the piece, and, since it is yours, whether you will be using it, selling it, showing it to all your friends,etc..Usually, a restoration of the finish is the best course, but that does take some skill and knowledge to know what to do and how to do it.A proper cleaning and restoration will not hurt the value, but it may not be the best course if say, you want to fill the sink with ice and use it as a bar occasionally.....then it would need a refinish to protect it properly...perhaps you could attach a picture, and elaborate on what your vision is for the piece??
