Question

table top damage
I would like to repaint a wicker table that has a damaged veneer top.  I have scraped all loose veneer.  What do I use to fill in the gaps to make a smooth surface to paint.  I plan to put a glass top over the top.

Hi Marian, the whole top is rather rough and uneven...if it's going to be inside only, you could "skim" coat the entire surface with drywall compound, and then block sand it smooth...prime it with a PVA primer and then paint.You could also just fill the voids the same way if you don't want to do the whole top...Use a drywall taping knife that will span the large crater there, and fill it, and the other holes, in a few applications, letting each one harden, until slightly raised.Hope that helps a little- post back if need be- regards- Greg
